The
pin is locked in the connecting rod by a clamp screw. Be sure
this screw has good threads and contains a lockwasher under its
head before tightening as pin might become loose and score the
cylinder wall and may also cause piston breakage.
PISTON
RINGS
When
an engine is fitted with new rings, the ridge at the top ot the
cylinder should be removed with a ridge remover.

Check
the new rings in the smallest diameter of the cylinder (about
2 in. from the bottom).
Ring
gap for both compression and oil control rings should be .005
-.015 in. Rings should be checked for side clearance in the piston
grooves (.0015 - .003 in. for compression rings and .002 -.0035
for oil rings). Lubricate rings before installing and use ring
compressor. (see fig. A5, A6 )
